• A: Your child must be five years old by September 1 to start kindergarten that year.

  • A: We have one class per grade. Each class is capped at 18 students.

CJDS families come from all over the country and around the world, and they reflect a wide range of Jewish observance and practice. Our families come from 10 different zip codes around Columbus, and about 65% of current families receive some form of financial assistance.

  • A: Many of our graduates go on to public school in sixth grade. Our students are also accepted at premier private schools around Columbus, including Columbus Academy, Columbus School for Girls, the Wellington School, and Marburn Academy.

  • A: Yes. Beginning in kindergarten, students take the NWEA MAP test. Traditionally, our students score in the top percentiles in the nation on this test.

    Students who accept the Ed Choice Scholarship are also obligated to take the Ohio State tests.

  • A: Yes! We are excited to share three after school program options for our CJDS families this year.

    • Ready Set Grow offers 5 day, 3 day and 2 day after school options. They will also accommodate early dismissals, out of school days, and snow days.

    It is important to note that while CJDS is providing information regarding the above programs, should you choose one that best fits your families needs, you will need to contact the institution to tour, learn more, and register.

  • A: Parents are regularly invited to the school and our classrooms for special presentations, Kabbalat Shabbat, and holiday celebrations. Our parent organization, Kesher, facilitates many ways to be involved with the school.

  • A: Buses are available from the Bexley and New Albany School districts. If you are from a different area and are interested in a bus, it may be possible to arrange one if there are enough students coming from your area. Please contact us and we’ll see what we can do!

  • A: We partner with the JCC to provide a Kosher Hot Lunch option for $8 a day. Students can also bring a packed lunch (vegetarian or dairy only) from home.

  • A: School starts at 8:00 am and ends at 3:20 pm. On Fridays, we end at 2:20 pm to get everyone home in time for Shabbat.
