Developing strong Jewish Identity so our children know who they are and can communicate that, proudly.

We accomplish this by nurturing their curiosity in a safe, joyful environment that fuels inventive thinking while fostering lifelong beliefs.

Jewish children need role models they trust and respect to help guide and model the identity-building work necessary to contribute thoughtfully and productively to the Jewish and global community.

We help our young students to dive deeply into Jewish subject matters in both sophisticated and playful ways.

Our Jewish Studies curriculum includes Tefilah (Jewish prayer/liturgy), Hebrew Language instruction, and Humash (Bible).

Through their studies at CJDS, we expect our students to graduate with the ability to:

  • Participate in and add to Jewish celebrations by acknowledging experiences of wonder and reciting prayers/blessings, performing rituals and explaining meanings

  • Communicate orally, using basic conversational Hebrew, knowledge about Jewish holidays and basic rituals involved in their observance

  • Be able to read a Jewish text and generate questions of philosophical meaning as they relate to the events of Jewish history
